Received B.S. degree in Chemistry/Biology from University of Alabama in 1970. Obtained J.D. degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 1973. Licensed to practice law in Michigan in 1973, Colorado in 1981 and Arizona in 2011. Engaged in private practice in Kalamazoo, Michigan; thereafter, as Deputy City Attorney for Battle Creek, Michigan, establishing the first in-house Legal Department for the City. Expedited major public works projects with community and business leaders. In 1980, a move was made to Colorado to serve as Staff Counsel for CF&I Steel Corporation with emphasis in contractual and regulatory matters. Position entailed co-counsel for commercial litigation and generating regulatory compliance programs. Thereafter, Mr. Hagen moved to the Denver metropolitan area as General Counsel for a real estate syndicator before returning to private practice in 1987. He has served as municipal prosecutor in both Michigan and Colorado. He was counsel with several firms in downtown Denver before creating his own firm in the early 1990's prior to becoming a Professional Corporation.
Currently maintains office as a sole practitioner in Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Peoria, Arizona in a general business practice, with emphasis in business, contracts, real estate, construction law, defects, estate planning and Probate. Has served as arbitrator for The American Arbitration Association and various Colorado courts. He is a panel member of the Tribunal for Highlands Ranch Community Association (90,000 population). He maintains homes in Highlands Ranch and in Peoria, AZ (155,000 population) throughout the year.
Maintains membership in the Colorado Bar Association, Douglas-Elbert County Bar Association, the Chambers of Commerce for Castle Pines, Castle Rock, and Highlands Ranch; and is Vice President of the Economic Development Council for Castle Pines. Mr. Hagen was selected for Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law and in Finance and Industry. He was Small Business Development Counselor with the South Metro Chamber of Commerce and is the Chairman of the 18th Judicial District encompassing Arapahoe, Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln Counties. Mr. Hagen is also Corporate Secretary for the Douglas County Community Foundation.
